Operation Glastonbury

Local band The Operation step in to provide hours of entertainment to Glastonbury festivalgoers.

ROCK BAND The Operation have made it to Glastonbury Festival…on a stage of their own.

The Frome based power-trio are heading to Worthy Farm in Pilton this weekend to play in front of hundreds of music lovers, alongside a host of famous names including Kings of Leon, the Verve and Jay-Z.

Playing on the The Fluffy Rock Cafe stage located in the Green Field, Alex Veale, Nick Wilton and Oli Court will play FIVE sets each 45 minutes long over four days.

Lead singer and guitarist, Alex Veale, 23, said: ‘’The stage does a lot of open mic slots but wanted some great acts to be programmed into the running times.  We are delighted to be able to help."

Alex and Nick are not afraid to knock on doors to achieve the success they are looking for.  A few weeks ago they visited Michael Eavis for a chat and to hand over their EP.  There are benefits to being locally based.

The announcement of the three-piece group appearing at Glastonbury follows a string of successful events in the whirlwind of The Operation's history; such as the release of their EP San Giuliano in December, appearing on Al Gore's Current TV, being signed by top US management - Sumo Music and recording with Universal in January.

Alex added: ‘’The EP has generated massive interest in the USA and Australia and showcases are currently in the pipeline for mid to late July which we are excited about.

‘’Playing Glastonbury feels right for us being from just down the road and having accomplished so much as an unsigned band, we're looking to show people a really good time over the four days we're playing.

‘’We are going to try and make each set as varied as possible to keep people on their toes. We are also looking forward to all of our festival shows over the summer, including the Frome Festival: End of Festival Party on Sunday 13th July.’’

The new addition to the band, drummer Oli Court, 20 from Frome, added:
‘’We’re really looking forward to the Festival and just want our music heard by as many people as possible. As Mendip locals it makes perfect sense to perform in the middle of a field.’’
